| What the members think! | Emmiesmummy Its like having a set of great mates who are always on hand to help with problems give support or just have a good natter too. Being a stay at home mum can sometimes feel lonely & asking your hv for help all the time on feeding makes you feel your doing something wrong & it becomes easier to give up....not anymore everyone here is always ready to offer advice or lend an ear if you need a chat. Its my daily lifesaver..... Gem1981 I can't recommend this website enough. The support from the other girls is wonderful and there is always someone to help - no matter how big or small the problem. Even if I just feel a bit fed up or lonely there is always someone to talk to and my days are alot better knowing I can come on breast buddies and speak to someone if I need to. Can't thank you enough ladies, you're a wonderful bunch!!
kay I am pregnant with my 3rd child and only managed to breastfeed my last 2 for a few days - mainly down to a lack of knowledge and support. I have joined this forum during pregnancy to get as much advice and support as possible so I can give breast feeding a proper go this time - and i've learnt so much already, and understand why I struggled so much previously. Thankyou to you all - I know I will get through it this time with the support from all of you!

ldnug Discovering Breastbuddies has been great - as a breastfeeding mum you can feel so isolated but here you are among friends and like minded people!
Thanks girllies Emma C when i got told i was a bit wary at first, but coming on changed my aspect of what people are like, last night i got some great advice about my sleepy son and its great to hear from so many breastfeeding mums together
Jools I am so glad I got told about this forum! I had absolutely nobody to talk about breastfeeding to at all! I seemed to be the only one breastfeeding at my local baby clinic and there are no support groups in my area! All the girls here are so friendly and certainly know their stuff when it comes to breastfeeding! If I ever have a problem or question I know I don't have to worry as there will always be someone here to offer great advice! Thanks ladies!

| | What are your LO's like at night | Tue Mar 09, 2010 11:19 pm by indigosky2k | I'm just curious really as to what everyone's little ones are like sleeping and feeding.
Kacie is either a reasonable sleper or a really rubbish sleeper, though she used to be better. She was sleeping 5-8 hours from about 4 weeks until the dreaded 4 month mark. Her downhill sleeping coincided with her 4month jabs and our going to stay at my parents without DH for the first time. She started only sleeping for 2 or 3 hours mostly, though often when she first goes to bed she sleeps upto 5 hours, sometimes 6, no good when it's 9pm-1am and I've only gone to bed at midnight

| Ellie had some of my milk | Wed Mar 03, 2010 11:05 pm by nickyjones | When we got home today, Ellie decided to go through the cool bag to see what was in it. There were Keira 2 daytime bottles of EBM which had about 1oz left in each, and she asked to drink from one. I initially said No I didn't think it would be any good but then decided to give the later one a sniff and it smelt fine so I opened the bottle and offered it to her. She drank it, said it was Yummy and much nicer than her milk. I just hope she doesn't start to expect it as a regular thing I wouldn't be able to express enough for her as well.

| Really upset | Thu Feb 25, 2010 3:16 pm by TashaAndBump | My friend had a baby a few days ago. The midwife has just been out and said she has lost weight so she needs to top up with formula after every feed.
I told her that that is probably the worst thing to do as it means baby won't demand as much so her supply won't come up. I told her it's normal for breastfed babies to loose a little in the first week as it just means the milk hasn't come in yet, but the best thing to do is to keep baby to the brest, not to supplement.
Well then her OH came on MSN and said:

| Found a good website! | Fri Feb 19, 2010 2:24 pm by kay | http://www.nhs.uk/start4life/pages/welcome-to-start4life.aspx
it is being advertised in magazines and newspapers, so i was interested to see if breastfeeding is featured - and there is loads dedicated to breastfeeding on there!
AND... the only reference to formula feeding is:
| Quote: | Formula milk
Formula milk is made from a combination of cow’s milk and other
added ingredients, but it doesn’t contain the ingredients that only
your body can make to protect your baby. In fact, despite years of
effort and lots of money spent trying to unlock ... |

| GRR! now i see why society sees bottle feeding as the norm.. | Fri Feb 19, 2010 8:44 pm by kay | I have just re-read a copy of Practical Parenting that Dave bought for me when I was just pregnant (Feb issue).
I am like
there are 13 full pages dedicated to advertising and promotions of formula and bottles.
Their free gift for taking out a subscription is a steriliser and bottles.
There is one article on breastfeeding with a pump comparison, and one other mention to breastfeeding on the 'problem page'.
I really had to scour the mag to find ANY reference to breastfeeding, yet every other page had...
