When I first started breastfeeding, I could tell that lil miss was feeding by the gulping noises she made and up until recently she would make them too... but just recently I have noticed that she doesn't. She is adament that she wants booby (to the point of screaming and crying when I take her away), she always demands the second booby after the first. I am producing milk, I don't know if it's a lot but it can still be effectively squirted out at great distances... so is she breastfeeding still?

She will quite happily sit on my lap with my boob in her mouth, watching TV, having a snuggle and generally chatting to me. Currently I am trying to encourage her to just have a cuddle instead otherwise I can be trapped on the sofa for hours and my nipples begin to hurt. She will also demand to be few 5/6 times a day which I try to discourage as much as I can down to 3.

She has also been quite ill recently (although this was going on from before she was ill) and when she has booby she coughs a lot. I would assume that her having warm breastmilk would soothe her throat not make it worse. This is another reason why I don't think she is feeding.

If she is just comfort sucking, then I am so done with breastfeeding. I have allowed her to breastfeed simply because I believe in the benefits for toddlers, but if she is not receiving any benefits that can't be also given in a cuddle, and I have to suffer pain for that, then it is time to stop.

I was really just looking to see if any other mums with breastfeeding toddlers had this issue and if she is actually feeding or not.

I am kind of going through the same, although the reason for my lack of milk is being pg. I seem to still be making milk as sometimes she'll look away or something and i can see the milk, but I don't get a let down now and she doesn't do much swallowing.
Daisy has cut down on her feeds alot, but seems to be making up for it by nipple twiddling

To be honest, my attitude is that if Daisy isn't getting much she'll self wean when she's ready.

I strongly believe in child led weaning Very Happy When they are ready to stop- they will.M was just like that when she was that age. It's a phase that will pass.
Right now M is "feeding" once a day, at bed time, but she likes to keep her hand in my bra when we cuddle or kiss and cuddle bewbees. <3

If it's a phase I will try and hold out a little longer. If it was a sign that my milk is going I really want to encourage her to stop. Lil miss has chipped teeth and I get bleeding nipples on and off depending on her frequency of feeding. I've pretty much just let this happen because I also believe in self weaning. It's also the extensive, and frequent feeding that are a problem for me.

On the other hand, nipple twiddling is the norm, as is wedging her (normally icy cold) little hand into my bra.... she also likes to hop on my lap have a suck and then come off and say "I love you boobies!" then go back on. It's very sweet.
