Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

default Boobies!

Post by Squiglet on Tue Mar 10, 2009 10:57 pm

Lil miss has been able to say boobies for quite a while, but its only been in the last 2 months she has been able to say it with perfect clarity, in a full sentence "I want boobies!", with precision and at the top of her voice, usually in the middle of the high street.

How do people defend a boobie tantrum when you are out and about? At the moment I have taken to rushing home, booby feeding in the car or toilet. She will even quite happily hop on my lap, yank my top down, try and fish a booby out from the bra and loudly announce to anyone within 2 metres, "booby now pees?"

While its ever so sweet, its ever so embarrassing. Embarassed Embarassed

Not planning to stop anytime soon, lil miss and I are more than happy with our little arrangement, and I know that I only have a few short years where I can cuddle her in a booby cuddle and I don't plan to waste a moment, I would just be happy to stop the whole comfort/announce it to the world cycle lol!

lol! Awww shes adorable!

But yes I can see why it would be embaressing.

If it was me I would try and talk to her about it, yes their understanding at this age is limited, but they are pretty switched on and understand a lot more than we give them credit for, which im sure you would agree with.

Why not have a code or something instead of her shouting "boobie" ? if thats causing abit of embarresment.

Invest in a top that she just can't yank down, only one that you could manuver?

Its sad really that you feel this way, but because of the way society is its not something that everyone is going to turn around and say "aww thats cute, welldone " which adds to your feelings of embarresment.

I hope you can find a way that your comfortable with in public.

Bless her! she is talking very well! Very Happy

Corey pulls my top up/down shouting num num or yum yum, but not really when we are out, more when we are at home now. He is too interested in everything else, but if he wants it, i give it. I always keep a beaker of juice in my bag too, which will often pacify him.

Lol. Lil miss has wanted to do nothing else but talk, she only stopped for a few weeks when learning to walk. Smile You're right natasha its not right that people can be so difficult about breastfeeding :/

I tend to wear tops now that are difficult to get down (well I have to really Laughing considering even if she can't get the top down she will point at them and say boobies there!).

The juice works only occasionally. If she is very tired when we are out.. Its boobies boobies boobies all the way. I will try and see if we can choose a code word, but think boobies is here to stay some how :icondoh:

Thank you though... suppose its one of those little things about extended breastfeeding.

Natasha's right - its a shame we are made to feel this way Sad

I think I'm gonna get in to using another word over boobies so when she starts talking, I dont even need to think about it - so thanks for making me think about it Squig! Smile
