Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

Post by clairelanakaydi on Fri Feb 20, 2009 10:41 am

I'm really staring to struggle with the amount of feeds Kaydi is demanding. She just wont leave me alone. Even when she's not feeding she wants to be latched on. I'm not getting hardly any sleep.
Its been gooing on for about a month. She's great when i'm at work really pleasent and doesn't take any milk just plenty food.

Its really getting me down and stressing me out. I keep getting angry.
I just don't know what to do.

I can't stop she won't take a bottle.

Don't know what to say, my lovely... but couldn't just ignore your post. You are back at work now aren't you?
How old is Kaydi now, she must be getting on for 10 months?
How often is she waking up?
I do feel for you, Daniel is also a horrendous sleeper, waking up 2-4 times a night for a feed and when you've got a full days work ahead of you it is absolutely exhausting. We did night wean for a while but it was so awful, gave up and then he slept through to 4am... for exactly 4 nights then it all started again (this was about 6 weeks ago).
I am thinking about starting to night wean him again but I am depending on DH settling him, could your DP perhaps try and settle her at some of her night wakings?
What myself and Dh are planning to do is stop Daniel nightfeeding between 7pm and 2am (with DH going into settle him) and gradually increase this period to 3am, 4am etc. No idea if it would work!

Tell us about yourself : People who have kids by more than 3 different men are SLAGS. They don't give a shit about the welfare of their children, otherwise they would be keeping their bloody legs shut and creating a STABLE environment for their kids, either in a stable relationship or as a single mother - because single mothers are perfectly capable of being fantastic parents. If you want to sleep around use some fucking contraception until you are sure your partner is in it for the long haul, it is not fucking difficult. Kids need stability - they don't need a succession of men coming in and out of their life.

Yes as your back to work shes catching up on the feeds shes missed, shes still only young and milk is stil very important in her diet.

It must be very hard, but as she reaches one this will settle considerably.

Remember because your not around as much as you were before, she will be latching on for comfort... she missis her mommy :aww:

:aww:

can only echo what the others say babes - that, and the fact you are feelin low (i assume you still are?)
I have the odd day when i think 'God, will you just sleep/leave me alone/drink from something other than me'.
Then i have a good day, and im grateful for the gift im able to give my baby. (sorry - had a glass of wine - 1 glass im tipsy, and ramble lol!)

Im lucky to not have to work, and have supportive OH - i really really feel for you and admire you - you've done such a great job. i know i said it before, but you really have, and i admire you :bighug:

Thank you ladies.
I think my AF has arrived. I think this is a big part of the stress and why i was feeling angry. I seemed to have calmed down now. AF is really light but i presume it back GGGrrrrr ...........lol

OH is being much more suportive than he ever has been too.
I still feel abit down but i think thats due to other things.

I think i remember reading your supply dips on AF.

Your supply can dip during AF hun - mine is affected slightly, so Corey seems to be on much more!

I take a calcium / magnesium supplement, and evening primrose - this seems to help a little.
