Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

default Water

Post by Mervs Mum on Thu Feb 19, 2009 4:19 pm

My HV said I dont need to give water but I wondered if anyone else does??

Hebe is on the 91st centile and gaining weight exactly as per the average line for her birth weight but I'm wondering if I'm over feeding her....

She has a nice little pattern but at tea time it's every hour and a half and I wonder if she's just thirsty.

She's a big baby and everyone seems to say :boob: babies are smaller.....Embarassed

Any thoughts.... Smile

I agree she proberly is wanting a drink, but breastmilk does provide all of that anyway.

If you want to give her water thats upto you hunny, but it wont have the goodness like your booby does Wink

Corey actually went off the chart at one point, but is usually on about the 95th centile. I never gave him water, he just got / gets what he needs from me.
TBH, he still 'drinks' more from me than his sippy cup now lol!

I suppose it's the old 'doubting yourself' syndrome that we seem to get from time to time....

I just worry that she's drinking me dry at times but I need to get a grip!! She's growing like a weed and settling pretty easily so I should just back myself!!!
