* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times

Post by claireea on Mon Dec 01, 2008 9:25 pm

Hiya everyone! I have been breast feeding for nearly six months and LOVE IT!!! Thing is i got to go back to work in 3 months and will only be able to give a night feed:iconsad: so i have started to wean Louise onto solids and off the breast. I am gonna make it a slow process as she loves her booby:boob: So at the moment this is wot we do
6 am Breast
9ish baby cereal and 2 oz of formula
12 breast
3 breast
5 small amount of veg and a yoguart + breast
7.30 Breast feed to sleep
4am breast

Obviously this varies from time to time but this is about what we do, would like your opinions please x

To be honest by 9 months her routine will change again.

Quite often when women have problems expressing or want to wean in the day due to work, the child will wait until they get home to feed, and then feed in the night to make up for it.

I would access it more towards the time, but if you want to continue the breastfeeding (im assuming you do? and just want to wean in the day?) they will adapt to your routine and like I said will feed when you get home/weekends etc.

Ok I understand, I do think you could continue feeding her even though you would have 3 days of long shifts.

Is expressing out of the question? as if you were to do that instead of use formula ( I think thats what you were saying) you have more chance of being able to keep the breastfeeding going.

Formula is very filling, and your supply would dwindle quite conciderably, but if you were expressing, you would be able to keep your supply going.

Its upto you of course and what you are happy doing, just trying to give you info on what will happen, it would be a totaly different story however if mix feeding had always been done, but as you will be introducing it later on into your breastfeed relationship and havign to work long ours, there is no doubt it would effect your supply and maybe even stop the breastfeeding after so long.

:aww:

There is always cup feeding hun, and at that age she would have no problems with holding one.

Oli never took to a bottle, but at a push would cup feed occasionaly.

But even if you were planning to mix feed, you may still have that problem with bottles/cups

Absolutly and if you need anymore help you know where we are :aww:

Claireea - I work 5 days a week, and my son has been in full time nursery since he was 8.5mo old.
I drop him at nursery at 7:45 and pick him up at 17:00. I feed him at nursery before we set off home. He feeds in the morning, bedtime and at night though we are in the process of night-weaning.
Don't feel you have to wean your lo off the breast if that is not what you want, just because you are going back to work.
My ds also will not take a bottle of anything, the nursery tried but he refused both EBM and formula.

Tell us about yourself : People who have kids by more than 3 different men are SLAGS. They don't give a shit about the welfare of their children, otherwise they would be keeping their bloody legs shut and creating a STABLE environment for their kids, either in a stable relationship or as a single mother - because single mothers are perfectly capable of being fantastic parents. If you want to sleep around use some fucking contraception until you are sure your partner is in it for the long haul, it is not fucking difficult. Kids need stability - they don't need a succession of men coming in and out of their life.
