Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

default silent breastfeeding

Post by nac on Tue Aug 19, 2008 12:30 pm

hello all,

is it me or is breastfeeding a largely silent affair. when she was small she would just close eys/sleep and feed we have just got into the habit of quiet feeds. she does make eye contact, smile and when she feels like it sings to me but i tend not to talk as i think she gets distracted now - oh and when 'fun bob' aka dad walks in well feeding is abandoned for fun pursuits!!!

Well, ours isnt quiet from Coreys end! He sucks, slurps, guzzles, and occasionally shouts, often sings!
with regard to everyone else, yes its a quiet affair - the slightest noise and he's popping off and looking around shouting and laughing! so much so, he kind of 'snack feeds' in the day now, and has good feeds late evening and in the night and morning.

I don`t tend to talk while Penny`s feeding she normally has her eyes closed so don`t like to distract her. I also find it quite relaxing so just tend to chill out.

We feed silently too. I find she feeds better if I don't talk to her. She gets distracted and smiles therefore stops feeding if i talk.
