Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

Am I nuts?

default Am I nuts?

Post by Squiglet on Wed Jun 04, 2008 2:14 pm

I had to stop bfing my eldest when she was 8 months old because she got meningitis and was in hospital for a long time... Afterwards she was lactose intolerant and had to have lactose free milk as even bm would make her sick. I didn't want to give up...I really really didn't because I loved it so much, but circumstances meant that I couldn't carry on...

Now my youngest is here...I get very emotional when I feed her because I know that one day I will have to give up and I never want to...yet the idea of bfing a 12 year old is a tad creepy to say the least :blyby1: :pml: But the day will come and I don't wanna :tear: I might just keep popping out babies just to bf'd...

I think a lot of this has come about because I have to go back to work now... and also she has had some solids introduced (baby rice and boob milk and some simple fruit and veg) She's a big lass... 95th centile since birth...but I wanted to keep her 100% bf'd until she was 6 months... she had other ideas Suspect and seems to disagree with formula...

I suppose its reminded me of my eldest coming off the breast....so I'm feeling nostalgic.... Im I nuts? bounce

nope. I'm crying just thinking Maya one day will wean off. I keep freaking out when she is not asking for boob for couple of hours and sometimes...i pick her up at night, even if she is sleeping and we breastfeed, just because I know one day it all will be just memory.
:aww: My plan is exactly like yours: I'll have more babies so I can do it all again! :aww:
