Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

Announcement Advice please girls

Post by just Rachel on Sun Apr 13, 2008 6:40 am

Andrew has had an ear infection and was prescribed antibiotics, These worked and Andrew's ear cleared up. But as soon as he stopped taking them the infection was back.

I have had him at Dr on 3 seperate occasions and the last time (2 weeks ago) a swab was taken and a minor infection was found and treated.

This morning Andrew's ear is full of thick gloopy sticky wax not just a bit it is full and running down the side of his face.

The antibiotics only seem to work for a short time and then the infection comes back.

What shall I do now ?

I would say try one of 2 routes.
Go back and ask to see a specialist - constant antibiotics wont do him any good at all in the long run. (if you have a minor incident unit at a local hospital take him today - its a great way of seeing a peadatrician without a waiting list Wink )

Or you could try going down the natural therapy route. I know Tash is having similar problems with Olivia - there is a thread in the Baby Health section, and she has researched some products.

Poor Andrew :tear: hope is feeling better soon :aww:

Thanks Kay, I rang the NHS direct today and they have suggested taking him to see Dr 1st thing tomorrow and have another swap taken whilst the ear is as gloopy as it is now. They suggested asking Dr for ear drops instead of medicine.

Hi!
my babay Alannah gets lots of ear infections too. I went down the homeopathic route and have found it brillant. i have only had to give her antibiotics once in 9 months...not bad, my other 2 children had alot more before I satrted to see a homeopath. Might be helpful...Good luck and I hope your baby feels better soon!

I took Andrew to see Dr today and we saw my usual Dr instead of her locum.

She contacted the Ear specialist at our local hospital and we have an appointment 9:30 tomorrow, She seems tho think he has a condition called Ottitis Medina which causes a build up of mucus in the ear canal.

I took Andrew to see ENT consultant today and he has been given ear drops as it was very difficult to examine his ears whilst they are so full of goo, another swab has also been taken and we are back in 2 weeks to see consultant again.

I read that if you put colloidal in the ear and then use a hair dryer it clear up the fluid in the ear?

I will have to see if I can find it again.
