Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

Was just wondering how long it takes food or drink to pass through into breastmilk?

Not sure what exactly you need to know

The helpful part was that it is basically what go into bloodstream that effects the breastmilk.
Ive started getting migraines and cant take my usual medication, and pharmasist said to take paracetamol and codeine as i am about to feed as there is less chance of it going into corey as it wont be in system (although he feeds regular so next feed it would be).
I am also drinking chamomile tea instead of coffee, as i know it relaxes me, wasnt sure if things like this would get through to baby.

Thanks for the links - they were great :bighug:

Codeine is L3 - what mean that is moderately safe for bf mother to take. Not sure about paracetamol, but its safe. Even if trace amounts will get thru to milk it is safe for baby. Chamomile if perfectly fine.
I would recommend to avoid Lemon Balm, Oregano, Parsley, Peppermint, Sage, Sorrel, Spearmint and Thyme- those can influence milk supply- making it smaller. I know some of those are used as a relaxing herbs- so thought to post it just in case.

In case of any new meds and you not being sure are they safe check

http://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/medication-faqs.html
http://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/aap-approved-meds.html
Do you eat well and make sure sugra levels are up but not high - with bf its the most cause of migraines. And stress is not helping too!!!
Also can't rememer did I tell you: there is link between energy saving lightbulbs and migraines. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/mai.../eabulb103.xml
Hope your head will feel better.

Shocked

We have low watt energy saving bulb in bedroom lamp on all night - i wander if that could be triggering?
I am also craving sweet foods, but trying to snack healthily - but i always want sweet things when migraines are lurking.
My migraines are normally linked to my hormones, so i think that is main thing, but i will defo look into the light bulb thingy.

Thanks hun :aww:
