Calpol Night-time!

Ok I am not in the habit of sedating my children b4 anyone jumps the gun!

For the past 2 weeks (probably over the holidays when it started) my kids have not been sleeping well at all!
I'm talkin having at least 5 of them ages 8,7,4,2 & 15 months up maybe til around 12am or beyond! NIGHTMARE!
Jamie and I were exhausted not to mention in desperate need of some "Our time" :aww:
I saw an advert for Calpol Night-Time and got some (after checking with my friend a GP)
Well the results have been amzing. past 2 nights they have ll slept right through from 8pm til around 6.30-7.00am BLISS!
They have all had kind of coughs and colds anyway and Zach is teething bad ( it says it is for coughs, colds,pain and fever and that it aids restfuls sleep!)
Certainly aided J and I's sleep.
Hopefully tonight will be ok as we will try them without it and see if it has got their little bodies back into routine!

I was going to ask about Calpol Night!!!!!

I do have habit of druging my kids, especially John- he gets fever fast and high-, when they are ill. My friend is a gp- back in Poland~_ and she said to me many , many times: children shouldn't struggle at night, they need to sleep. The same said my ped- yes, this dude was my ped when I was a child and now, if we need, he sees my kids when we visit my mum.

Now I use mix of Paracetamol and Ibuprofen. One of doc's here in England said to alter them paracetamol, ibuprofenm paracetamol, ibuprofen, etc, so you get brakes between giving the same med twice.

I have used Medised which is good at times like this, however Tyler wont take it, and he is the worse sleeper of the 2

Thanks chelle - and no-one would accuse you of drugging your kids :aww: (although its very tempting sometimes for a peaceful night and some snuggles with OH! )

I heard that medised is exactly the same as calpol night except your paying more for the calpol name, this was from a pharamcist.

Me and Brody are poorly with a cold at the moment and Brody is having alot of trouble sleeping through it! It seems he is scared when he cant breathe through his nose bless him We tried Karvol and snuffle stuff but Nothing seems to work! Kev went to get something for him and was going to get Calpol night but got Calcold instead as the ingredients are EXACTLY the same! We usually try Medised but he doesn't like it at all!
I agree that they need their sleep when they are poorly but I have yet to find something that helps Brody sleep! I've given him the Calcold with his tea so we will see what tonight brings!

i tried aeryn with the calpool night time last week when she had a cold and was getting out of bed time routine- i know what you mean chelle! the only thing is aeryn didnt settle she seemed to fight the sleepy effect and got herself all distressed. im glad it worked for you but it looks like we had better try something else!

Well ours have managed to stay in routine of sleeping!
Daddy says every nigth to them "come and get your magic sleepy medicine" and gives them water with a hint of honey in and off they go like little angels!!!
Seems to have worked for now and if it doesn't then I will use the Calpol Night.it makes such a difference to have some adult time!
I've read 3 books so far watched a few programmes and .......well the rest is explicit so I'll leave you guessing!LOL
