How dangerous is water for babies?

Lil miss has a Urine infection... usually the treatment is to offer her lots to drink... but as I am working and she refuses milk during the mornings. The doctor has said she needs to drink lots of juice or water to help flush the bacteria out of the kidneys and bladder. Shes also on antibiotics and pain meds because she has a high temp, add to this the weather in Spain rarely drops below 35�c atm so she's sweating loads...

I've read on here that its bad to give water and that bf'd babies ...

Hello all,

I'm Claire, 27 married for 2 years .

I have two gorgeous girls, one at 22 months Lana and one at 10 weeks Kaydi. I also have a step son who is 6.

I only BF my oldest for about 4 weeks then went on to bottles i had no support at all. No one told me i could top up etc. My second were doing really well 10 weeks and counting. We have had problems but we have made it through them and still going strong.

I was in next today and one of the women who worked there said "oh she's hungry isn't she" I said "erm no she has just been breast fed and had a bottle of expressed breast milk, she's tired" Then she went on to say "You should give her a bottle of water to calm her" I was getting annoyed at this point and said "I breast feed her, she doesn't need water" and walked off before i told her what i was thinking. hi all

12 weeks and still breastfeeding i feel very proud of my baby.

i have a sore boob, post her sleeping through the night for a few nights. it was a tough night last night lots of pain, its as if she knew as she woke and fed every 3 hours to help me keep the breast drained.

went to the dr, he gave me antibiotics in case it progresses to full blown mastitis! im feeding her regularly, draining the breast with a pump if she doesnt drain it and gravitational feeding - which she ...

Now lil miss is 6 months everyone expects me to wean her off the breast and I don't want to... Disappointed today. I thought Daisy was going through a growth spurt at the moment, but I weighed her at baby cafe (my sensible thoughts are telling me she has never been weighed on those scales before so they could be wrong) and she has only put on 6oz in 2 weeks. She has always been on the 25th centile but is now starting to drop. Shes 13 weeks old tomorrow.

When Lo feeds she sometimes just screams at my breast.... What could be wrong???

She is latching on ok so I know that's not the problem.

I took her to the doctors this morning as I thought it could be thrush, she her tongue is white and i've been on antibitocs but the GP says she hasn't got plus my breasts get itchy sometimes when i'm feeding her.OH the GP put it down to colic and told me to use infacol

I hate seeing her upset but other than giving in I don't know what to do

i'm not reading too much into this but i think ferility is coming back!

It was a couple of week ago now that i had some spotting. Then yesterday my cervical fluid was exactly the same as what it was like when i was fertile when trying for bethany. So needless to say, as it was adams birthday yesterday i gave him a different kind of birthday present! lol. Twice! (through gritted teeth - you no my problem that i need a operation for!).

We had a wonderful day!

The weather was good - the rain stayed away for most of the day, and the boys were as good as gold.

They were great in church - Ty asked the vicar if there were fish in the font and then refused to have head wet when there were no fish in there! Dave held him up, and i shoved his head over the font, whilst vicar did quickest holy trinity ever

Katie made it up with the children - it was wonderful to meet her in the flesh! (we whipped boobs out simultaneously ...

I didnt no where to post this because i need advice on loads of different areas so i've put it in general.

Ok, i got a call an hour ago to tell me my operation date for the cyst on my ovary to be removed and for the 'fentons procedure' as my bits havent healed properly (according to gynocologist) 7 month after having baby or i've been overstitched when had 2nd degree tearing (according to GP). Sex is extremly sore so need procedure done!

Anyway, the date is 29th august so we've got ...

I think Rhianna might have worms As I may have mentioned, she's been waking up a lot during the night and something seems to be bothering her, I've been blaming her teeth, and thought it might still be thrush, but I'm sure thats cleared up, but she's always scratching herself, not her bum so much, she cant realy reach that far. I had a look around her anus and could see some small white things that could have been worms, or maybe just fluff, although not sure she would have fluff there and ...

Sling for a toddler

Hi all, I've been using a ring sling with Jack since he was newborn but I'm really struggling to carry him comfortably in it now.

Does any one have any ideas on a decent sling/carrier for a toddler. He's a big boy at 30lb at 18 months and I think he'd probably be better carried on my back now.

I really don't want to stop carrying him but might have to if I can't sort out another carrier.

Any ideas or suggestions welcome?

Feeding more through the night

Corey is feeding much more through the night than the day at the moment.

During the day, he has good, long feeds, well spaced out (i dont count, and i dont time lol!).

At night, he is just on and off all night - short, snacking sort of feeds. TBH, I dont know how many times, how often or anything - i dont look at the clock or even open my eyes really

Its not affecting my sleep too much, and it isnt a problem, but does anyone elses LO do this? is it common?

9 weeks breastfed now struggling to introduce a bottle

hi,

im struggling i want my baby to take EBM from a bottle as i plan to go back to work. she is 9 weeks old and brastfeeding really well, but introduction of the bottle is a nightmare. lots of gagging, pushing away and crying.

i try to give her a small amount in the bottle when she is nearing a feed and nice and calm but it doesnt work.

i am starting to worry as it is important to for both of us for her to learn, i use a cold water milton steraliser, and quite small teats.

Rhianna's sleep varies from night to night, one night she'll sleep from 7 to 6 waking once, another night, she'll be awake every hour and a half, and quite often these days she wakes up and wants to nurse for 2 hours. I've put it down to several things, but really have no idea.

We're thinking of trying getting DH more involved at night, so when she wakes he'll rock her instead of me feeding her. Aparently it takes quite a few sleepless nights, but works quite well.

Has anyone heard of it, ...

Nursing strike

Lil miss has gone on nursing strike when I'm not around. She is refusing to take more than a couple of oz of milk when I'm at work and will only take solids with a small cup of milk.

When I come home she goes nuts and has to have a boob immediately where she will feed for around an hour... having expressed after coming home, I know she takes nearly 10oz in one sitting... some of which she will sick up (around 3oz)... So I suppose she gets her milk quotient in the day....

Is this OK? ...

Well I have always believed if you don't fuss and dont force they will come round.

After months and months of constantly putting carrots on her tray, shes eaten them, well for the past 4 weeks or so!

She loves them and peas

In the begining it used to get to me abit, but I just let her chuck it on the floor, screw her face and not bother with it.

Just swept it up and tried again the next day.

I kept putting on her tray every dinner time we had them, and eventualy ...

I'm Scottish, but have been living in Australia for 3 years now. My DD has been a boobie baby for 8 months and we are loving it.

In Australia Breastfeeding is protected, so if someone comes up to you and asks you to stop or to move then you can tell them where to go - it's discrimination. However, I was shocked to learn recently that this is not the case England.

Over here my LO and I have enjoyed breastfeeding in shopping centre food courts ...

Daisy went through a phase of sleeping till around 5.30 - 6 am a few weeks ago, she even went to 7.45am once!! But recently shes waking two or three times in the night. (I count from when we go to bed) Last night I fed her around 11pm when we went to bed, then around 2, then once again before it was light. As she is waking in the morning she tends to cluster feed a bit then she normally has a big morning sleep.

This doesn't really bother me as we co-sleep so I can go back to sleep and I'm not ...
